What to pack for a year abroad

This is what I began with for my year abroad to Australia and Europe:

But it got trimmed down further to even more basic necessities as follows:

Headwear:
-1 flexfit hat (good forwards/backwards wearability)
-1 black bandana (good for keeping sweat out of eyes for hikes, etc.)

-3 pairs sunglasses (Australia is a sunny place apparently)

Upper body:
-5 lightweight cotton t-shirts (need a little colour variety)
-1 black zip-up track jacket
-1 grey Patagonia rain jacket

Lower Body:
-1 causal brown belt
-1 black/brown reversible formal belt

-1 pair swim trunks
-1 pair cargo shorts
-1 pair casual shorts
-1 pair lightweight jeans
-1 pair of black khakis (for formal occasions)
-5 pairs socks/underwear

Footwear:
-1 pair of black Adidas Vespa shoes
-1 pair of Teva sandals
-1 pair of waterproof flip-flops (for showers)

Accessories:
-2 rope-cinch athletic day bags (for day trips or dirty clothes or dirty footwear)
-1 silk bed liner
-1 plug adaptor (so my Canadian plugs will work with Aus/Euro outlets)
-netbook (for blogging, uploading photos, facebook/skype)
-iPod (for those long flights)
-camera (to document my adventure)
-waterproof digital watch (alarm clock and watch wearable anywhere)

-mini business cards (with my blog, email, flickr, twitter pages)

-misc first aid items (band-aids, hand sanitizer, advil, etc)
-misc toiletries (mini toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, floss, etc)
-combination lock and zipper locks (hostel lockers, flights, etc.)
-1 3.5 x 5 ft. quick-drying towel

I'll keep you posted as to what was actually needed/used out of what I packed and what I didn't have that I could have used.
